"Fan into a flame the Gift that God gave you...
God's Gift was not a spirit of timidity,
but the Spirit of power and love and self-control".
2 Timothy 6,7

This is year 2003, the year of Comboni's canonisation and of the XVI General Chapter. What a timely opportunity to start a new challenging chapter of my life! Taking over the task of Justice and Peace coordinator has so far proved to me a most important task in view of the changing understanding of what is 'mission' in today's world.

The mission statement of the handbook for J.&P. Links says:

"Commitment to live, pray and work for God's Reign of Justice and Peace is integral to every religious vocation in the community of Christ's Church. Inspired by the charisma unique to each religious congregation, its members witness to the Gospel challenge in a variety of ways. Justice and Peace Links members are officially appointed by the leadership of their respective congregations.

Their role in relation to J.P. Links is:

  • to represent their congregation in this unique justice and peace network of religious in England and Wales (and Scotland).& to attend the autumn AGM and the spring weekend Conference on behalf of their congregation, or to ensure that someone officially represents their congregation at these J.P. Links gatherings.
  • to ensure that the information and calls for action which they receive from J.P. Links are communicated within their congregation..
  • to liaise with other J.P. Links members and the CoR Social Justice desk.

Together we provide a network for mutual support, collaboration and the sharing of good practice. We also form an effective group for inter-congregational witness and action with a common focus".
